Chub Frank Looks To Get Back On Track After Frustrating

Swing Through Canada

BEAR LAKE, PA – Chub didn’t have much fun on his weekend excursion to Canada with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

The three-race swing through Ontario and Quebec was a frustrating one for Chub, who registered just a single top-10 finish. He was left searching for answers after failing to seriously contend for his second WoO LMS victory of the season and falling from third to fifth in the points standings.

“We were just missing something all weekend,” said Chub, who had seemingly crossed the border with momentum after finishing third in the ‘Great Northern Tour’ lidlifter on June 17 at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway. “I can’t put my finger on what it was. We just weren’t as competitive as we needed to be and we need to figure out why.”

After the opening race in Canada, at Ohsweken (Ont.) Speedway, was postponed one day by rain last Thursday night, Chub raced to a 15th-place finish (two laps down) in the ‘Six Nations 50’ on Friday evening. He was never a factor in the event, during which he pitted his Lester Buildings/Corry Rubber/All Star Performance/Corry Laser/Slavic Corporation/Farr MotorSports/Lake Shore Paving/Custom Race Engines Chevrolet Impala SS Rocket Chassis No. 1* twice in hopes of finding more speed with tire changes and other adjustments.

Chub managed a respectable sixth-place finish in Saturday night’s ‘Quebec 50’ at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Que., but he struggled again on Sunday night, finishing 11th in the 50-lap A-Main at Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway.

Chub’s weekend in Canada ended with a trip to the hospital – not for anything that happened to him, but rather to be with his cousin and fellow racer Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs, who flipped hard in hot laps at Cornwall and was taken to the hospital for a checkup. Chub spent a couple hours with ‘Boom’ before doctors declared him fit and released him.

The stretch of racing ended with Chub ranked fifth in the WoO LMS points standings, 56 points behind leader Darrell Lanigan.

The ‘Great Northern Tour’ continues for Chub on Tuesday (June 24) at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Speedway; Wednesday (June 25) at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, Pa.; and Friday/Saturday (June 27-28) at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. The two-day ‘Firecracker 100’ at Lernerville will pay a whopping $40,000 to win.

In other Chub Frank Racing news, Chub has announced that he will compete in the ‘Yankee Doodle 50’ on July 3 at Central PA Speedway in Clearfield, Pa.

In addition, Slavic Corporation has released a complete line of new Chub Frank merchandise that can be purchased on-line at www.chubfrank.com or at the Slavic merchandise trailer this weekend at  Lernerville Speedway.
